It's Time to Give Back

Since mid-November, we've donated to Susan G. Komen and to Feed the Hungry.  I'm always on the lookout for good charities and organizations that appreciate any donation, no matter how big or small.  This week I was invited to an event that benefits the Chron's & Colitis Foundation of America.  DING!  (yes, that was a light bulb going off over my head).   I personally know a bit about ulcerative colitis as not only do two of my immediate family members have it, but so do at least 3 of my friends.

Anywhoo, it's not enough to just attend this event, I realized that I need to try to do some more.  So... from now until 2/16, 5% of every purchase on waytutucute.com will be donated to the Chron's & Colitis Foundation of America.  Now you can buy some really cute things and support a great cause!

A little about the foundation:  The Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America is a non-profit, volunteer-driven organization dedicated to finding the cure for Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. It was founded in 1967 by Irwin M. and Suzanne Rosenthal, William D. and Shelby Modell, and Henry D. Janowitz, M.D.  Four decades ago, the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation created the field of Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis research. Today, the Foundation funds cutting-edge studies at major medical institutions, nurtures investigators at the early stages of their careers, and finances underdeveloped areas of research. Educational workshops and symposia, together with our scientific journal, Inflammatory Bowel Diseases, enable medical professionals to keep pace with this rapidly growing field. No wonder the National Institutes of Health has commended the Foundation for "uniting the research community and strengthening IBD research."

Thanks for helping us help others,

Who in the World is Yelli Kelli?

So you've seen Yelli Kelli on waytutucute.com, but who is Yelli Kelli?  I'd like to introduce you to Kelly, the mastermind behind the incredibly original Yelli Kelli art.  The daughter of an artist and the mother of an artist, Kelli is both a professional artist & fashion designer, living in a small town in Alabama.  She and her mom run a funky eclectic shop, based in a 100 year old Victorian House.  She also teaches an arts and crafts class to young girls, ages 5 to 12.

I'm sure you've seen her work.  It's hard not to smile when you look at her art, whether it be on canvas or on clothing, or even on a bookmark.  It's hard not to fall in love with them.  They are not something you see everyday, which is why I liked them immediately.  There is something about each piece that takes me back to my childhood... the days when we were forced to take naps and we didn't know what money was.  As much as I love Yelli Kelli's work, I had to find out what others thought, so I asked the most honest person I know... my 4 year old daughter.  When I showed her Yelli Kelli's art, she picked out two almost instantly that she wanted to hang in her room (1 shown here).  She immediately came up with stories for each of these girls and then ran to her room to show me where on her wall they would fit.  My daughter is awesome and very sneaky..lol.  Little does she know that we have two Yelli Kelli paintings on their way to our house (one for her and one for her baby sister - both personalized).  She's going to flip out when she sees them!  Heck, I'm going to flip out when I see them, who am I kidding?

If you haven't taken the time to check out these incredible pieces of art, check them out now.  Yelli Kelli... Hey!  That's Cute!

Product Review: Bugaloo Shoes

When I first spotted these shoes I thought they are adorable, so they must not be affordable.  Good thing I continued looking, because they are extremely reasonable at only $18, and were immediately added to my "must buy" list.  I made the decision to purchase a pair for my 7 month old for Christmas.  I got them days later (just in time for Christmas) and was pleasantly surprised by the packaging (a cute plastic pouch with handles).  Super professional, super fast shipping... and something I totally wasn't expecting - the leather smells so incredible, I wound up holding them to my nose a little longer than I should've. :)  My little one has not gotten used to shoes yet.  Most wind up on the floor in a matter of minutes so I was shocked to see that she left these on all day (she even took a nap in them).  I bought them a little on the larger side so that she wouldn't grow out of them in a day and they still stayed on which was awesome.  My mom came over on Christmas day and said if Bugaloo made shoes in her size, she would get a pair.  I totally agree!  I've had to stop myself from buying them in every color.

They come in boys and girls styles and they even have some that resemble dress shoes and sneakers (the one pictured here is definitely my favorite style for boys).  Super cute! I'd have to give these shoes pretty high ratings!  I'm honored to have Bugaloo as a part of WayTutuCute.com.  Pick up a pair or two today!  You won't be disappointed!
